Introduction

Station 1: Define the Users

The goal of the first station is to demonstrate the importance of defining the end users. It is important for the participants to recognize that the end users’ concerns may differ from designers, developers, and stakeholders.

This station introduces teams to the concept that there are different types of users, which have various characteristics and that in order to design a good artifact, it is important to recognize the target users.

Teams are presented with a set of 20 to 25 pictures and basic demographic description of users organized into 4 groups. All groups are susceptible to use the solution created to satisfy the design problem given but have different demographic characteristics (age, technology expertise, family situation, etc.).

Teams are asked to select the group they will design for and to write down the three main characteristics of this group.
